Nottingham Forest want Marco Silva as their next manager. Crystal Palace plan a new deal for Adam Wharton. Manchester United could drop their interest in Carlos Baleba after a poor season.
Forest Target Silva as Postecoglou Faces Pressure
Nottingham Forest are considering Fulham boss Marco Silva as their top candidate. The move depends on Ange Postecoglou’s future. Postecoglou will meet owner Evangelos Marinakis after seven winless games in charge.
“Though Silva is out of contract at Fulham at the end of the season, he has a high release clause in his current deal that puts him out of reach of all but the wealthiest clubs. It is also understood Silva was sounded out by Portuguese giants Benfica last season.
Forest have not yet decided whether to part ways with Postecoglou. He joined on September 9 after Nuno Espirito Santo’s departure. He has lost five of seven games, drawing only against Burnley and Real Betis.
Palace Prepare New Deal to Retain Adam Wharton
Crystal Palace aim to keep Adam Wharton with a new contract offering a pay rise and release clause. They hope the offer will fend off interest from Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester City.
“Tottenham made an approach at the end of last season, Real Madrid have watched him regularly for the past year, while Bayern Munich scouts have also compiled reports and made enquiries for the youngster, who cost Palace a bargain £18 million from Blackburn Rovers in 2024 and is now valued in the £75m bracket. Wharton remains level-headed and happy at Palace, but all parties are aware he will have two years left on his contract come next summer, which is the usual juncture for discussions on new terms.”
Wharton missed the latest England squad but continues to attract global attention after his breakout season.
Man United Reconsider Pursuit of Baleba
Manchester United may not return for Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba after an underwhelming season. The club had considered a big-money move in the summer but could now explore other options.
“The midfielder has endured a season to forget ever since being told he would remain at the Amex. It was well documented that The Red Devils wanted to bolster their midfield, but ultimately failed to land any new face in that area. It remains a problem position and the expectation was that they would return to see if they could lure Baleba away from The Seagulls next year. In light of his performances, though, a rethink could be on the cards at Old Trafford. After all, United have been stung numerous times in the transfer market, spending huge sums on players, only to see them underwhelm in a red shirt.”
