Jannik Sinner defended his ATP Finals crown in Turin and said he is performing at a higher level now than he did in 2024. The World No. 2 closed a remarkable 2025 season with a straight-sets victory over World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz in the final.
Sinner sealed the title by beating Alcaraz 7-6(4), 7-5 on Sunday. The crowd at the Inalpi Arena erupted with chants of “Ole, Ole, Ole, Sinner, Sinner” as the Italian completed another flawless run at the event without losing a set.
“Honestly, I don’t want to compare [years]. It’s an amazing season,” Sinner said.
He reached four Grand Slam finals in 2025 and lifted trophies at the Australian Open and Wimbledon. “Last year has been an amazing season. This year making four Grand Slam finals, coming here, winning here, having this big streak in end of the year, it’s amazing.”
“But mostly I feel I am a better player than last year, I think this is the most important,” he added. Sinner also said that improvement comes from consistency. “It’s all part of the process. I always say and believe that if you keep working and trying to be a better player, the results, they’re going to come. This year it was like this.”
A Season Built on Growth and Stability
Sinner missed three months after his Australian Open win but still produced one of the strongest seasons of his career. He claimed six titles and ended with an impressive 58-6 record. He now holds 24 career trophies, equal to Alcaraz’s total.
“Many, many wins, and not many losses. All the losses I had, I tried to see the positive thing and trying to evolve me as a player,” Sinner said. “I feel like or I felt like this happened in a very good way. I’m extremely happy with the season.”
Competing in front of his home fans added even more joy to his year-end finish. Although he won only two of his six battles with Alcaraz in 2025, he maintained strong form when it mattered most.
A Rivalry Built on Respect and Friendship
Sinner also spoke about the healthy dynamic he shares with the Spaniard. “We have a very good relationship, rivalry. I feel like we can talk about everything still. I think it’s great,” he said.
Their bond extends beyond the matches. “We are good friends off the court. We do respect us in a very healthy way. Also the teams, my team, get along very well with them,” he added.
Sinner ends the season as World No. 2, backed by consistency, growth, and a rivalry that continues to shape modern men’s tennis.
