In a new Elena Rybakina interview from Kazakhstan, the WTA Finals champion reviewed her season and revealed how she rediscovered her focus before her successful run in Riyadh. She admitted that the early months felt inconsistent, but her team helped her rebuild structure and confidence. “Overall, I had a pretty successful season… In the end, it all showed in my performance — and I’m very glad,” said Rybakina.
She also discussed what the WTA Finals win meant to her, while still placing her historic Wimbledon title above everything. “Probably Wimbledon — that is one of the biggest victories for me,” she said. She described those emotions as unforgettable and added that both the Australian Open final and the year-end triumph demonstrated her progress.
Rybakina then addressed her calm demeanor on court. She said this composure forms a natural part of her personality but can shift depending on the situation. “I’m generally a very calm person… sometimes those emotions can help,” she noted, explaining that she avoids negative displays to prevent momentum swings.
Mental Discipline, Recovery Habits, and Strict Nutrition Shape Her Daily Routine
The interview also revealed how Rybakina handles pressure during intense matches. She follows a clear plan created with her coach and uses simple mental resets between points. “Breathing can help to let go of the moment a bit,” she said, highlighting how those 25 seconds before a serve help her clear her mind.
Away from the court, Rybakina places major importance on sleep, structured recovery, and a disciplined eating plan due to allergies. “All of that is very important. Sleep especially,” she explained. Her team tracks every detail of her nutrition and supplements. “The physiotherapist monitors all these things… we build an appropriate nutrition plan,” she added. She said meditation appears occasionally in her routine but does not form a consistent practice.
Rybakina enjoyed a brief break after the season and allowed herself to relax, but she has returned to a strict diet ahead of her upcoming preparation block.
Olympic Ambitions, WTL Withdrawal, and Her Road Toward 2028
Rybakina then spoke about the Olympics and her disappointment at missing the 2024 Games due to illness. “It was very sad to miss the last Olympics — 2024,” she said. She confirmed that she aims to compete in 2028 and hopes to add an Olympic medal to her resume. “In 2028 I want to perform at the Olympics and deliver a good result,” she added.
She also explained why she withdrew from this year’s World Tennis League in India. The long season left her without enough time to rest or prepare properly. “The season turned out to be pretty long… we decided to take a pause,” she said. A leg issue also influenced the decision.
Rybakina will resume her journey at the Continental Tennis Cup in Shenzhen as she starts building toward another demanding year.
