Early Life

His age-group dominance peaked in the 2017–18 Vijay Merchant Trophy (U-16): he opened the season with a triple-hundred for Andhra and later smashed 441 off 345 balls vs Nagaland, finishing the tournament with 1,237 runs at 176.41 and 26 wickets. This record-setting campaign earned him the BCCI Jagmohan Dalmiya Award (Best U-16 Cricketer, 2017–18).

The journey was anchored by his family’s sacrifices. His father, Mutyala Reddy, and mother Manasa supported his training through financial strain; coaches and mentors at ACA also played a pivotal role in shaping his game.

Personal Life

Reddy hails from a close-knit Visakhapatnam family. Reports during his Test breakthrough captured emotional scenes of his father celebrating at the MCG, underlining how central family support has been to his rise. Off the field he is described as diligent and humble, often crediting mentors and family for his progress.

Domestic Career

Reddy made his first-class debut for Andhra on 27 January 2020 (Ranji Trophy vs Kerala, Ongole) and his List A debut on 20 February 2021 (Vijay Hazare vs Vidarbha, Indore). He also debuted in domestic T20s during the 2021–22 season.

As a seam-bowling all-rounder, he has grown into a reliable middle-order batter who can hit hard at the death, while his brisk seamers provide a second-change wicket-taking option.

Playing Style and Impact

Reddy’s batting is built on clean base power and a stable head position, enabling long straight hits and acceleration through mid-wicket. With the ball, he offers hard-length seamers around 130–135 kph, attacking stumps and using the short ball effectively. His dual skills make him a flexible selection: a No. 6/7 who can also bowl two to eight overs depending on conditions.

After his knee setback in July 2025, the focus is on full fitness and consolidating a role across formats. Expanding his bowling utility and sharpening his batting against high-quality pace will determine how quickly he becomes an all-format regular.
