Lewis Hamilton says his first Formula 1 campaign with Ferrari has been the most intense of his career. The British driver switched from Mercedes ahead of the 2025 season. His aim is to secure an eighth drivers’ crown and help Ferrari win their first constructors’ title since 2008.
Hamilton’s year has brought both highs and lows. He took a Sprint pole and victory in China but endured a poor Hungary weekend, admitting he felt “absolutely useless.” Even with these setbacks, Hamilton remains confident in Ferrari’s championship potential.
“The team has every ingredient that they need to win World Championships,” Hamilton said. “It’s literally just about getting things all aligned and running smoothly and freely, stress-free, which we’re all trying to do.”
Adjusting to Life Inside Ferrari
Hamilton admits joining Ferrari has been challenging in several areas.
“This [season] has definitely been the most intense one, I would say, just from a work perspective,” he explained. “Integrating into a new culture, a new team, it’s not gone smoothly in all areas, and it’s been a real battle. I definitely need to get away and recharge, be around the kids and laugh. I’m sure there will be some tears at some point, and I think that’s really healthy.”
Determined to Push for Success
Despite the hurdles, Hamilton says wearing Ferrari red motivates him every day. “I love what I do, I love being in red, I love working with this team, and I have such belief in this team,” he said. “Of course, I need to do most of that on track and I’m not always hitting that, but also in the background I see there’s things that we can always improve, and there’s things that I can improve.”
After 14 of 24 races, Hamilton is sixth in the drivers’ standings, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc. Ferrari sits second in the constructors’ table, trailing McLaren. The summer break will give the team and driver a vital chance to regroup before the second half of the season.
