Luis Diaz scored on his Bayern Munich debut in a 2-1 win over Stuttgart to capture the German Supercup 2025. Harry Kane also found the net, giving Bayern its first trophy of the season.
Kane gives Bayern the early lead
Bayern started brightly and controlled the opening minutes. In the 18th minute, Harry Kane reacted quickly to a loose ball and fired inside the left post. His strike gave Bayern a deserved lead.
“To start with a trophy is the most important thing,” Kane said after the win. The English forward collected only his second career team honor, following his Bundesliga triumph in May.
Stuttgart looked for a response. Nick Woltemade forced a sharp save from Manuel Neuer with a strong effort. Woltemade had been linked with Bayern this summer, but Stuttgart CEO Alexander Wehrle ended speculation before the match. “The file is closed,” he said.
Diaz strikes on debut
Manuel Neuer made another brilliant stop in the 75th minute, denying Jamie Leweling with a reflex save. Just two minutes later, Luis Diaz scored Bayern’s second goal. The Colombian winger finished clinically while Leweling was still off the field after a knee clash with Sacha Boey.
“Undoubtedly painful, but still, and perhaps unpopular, but he needs to feel the pain on the field and not two meters away from it,” Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeneß said.
Leweling later returned and scored a stoppage-time header for Stuttgart, but Bayern held firm. The final whistle confirmed the victory.
Perfect debut for Diaz
For Diaz, who arrived from Liverpool last month in Bayern’s biggest signing of the summer, the goal marked a dream debut. His performance gave Bayern fans plenty to cheer and set high expectations for the season.
Bayern now shifts focus to the German Cup, where it faces Wehen Wiesbaden on August 27. Stuttgart begins its title defense against Eintracht Braunschweig a day earlier.
