Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has announced a ₹2.5 crore reward, a 1,000-square-yard house site, and a Group-I government job for Shree Charani. The recognition comes after her stellar performance in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.

On November 2, India created history by winning their first-ever ICC Women’s World Cup. The team defeated South Africa by 52 runs at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, ending a long wait for global glory.

The Andhra Pradesh CMO confirmed the announcement on X, stating:

“The Government of Andhra Pradesh, led by Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu Garu has announced a cash award of ₹2.5 crore, a 1,000 sq. yard house site, and a Group-I government job for Ms. Shree Charani in recognition of her exemplary performance in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, 2025.”

Naidu also praised the young spinner on his personal account. He wrote:

“A star daughter of Andhra Pradesh, our very own Kadapa girl and World Cup champion, Ms. Shree Charani made an invaluable contribution to India’s Women’s Cricket World Cup victory. She reflects the spirit of Telugu daughters – their strength, determination, and limitless potential. Rising from humble beginnings, she has worked tirelessly to achieve excellence in cricket, proudly representing both our state and our nation. I wish her the very best in all her future winning spins. Proud of you, Amma!”

The Chief Minister said Charani symbolizes the strength and determination of Telugu daughters. He added that her journey from modest beginnings to international success inspires many young athletes.

Shree Charani’s Standout World Cup Performance

Charani emerged as one of India’s best bowlers in the tournament. She finished fourth on the wicket-takers list with 14 wickets in nine matches. Her bowling average was 27.64, with best figures of 3/41.

Alongside Deepti Sharma, who took 22 wickets, Charani formed a lethal spin partnership. Their consistent spells helped India dominate crucial matches and lift the trophy.

In her international career so far, Charani has 23 wickets in 18 ODIs and 10 wickets in five T20Is. Her rapid growth has made her one of the most promising bowlers in Indian women’s cricket.

India’s Path to the Historic Win

Batting first, India scored 298/7 in 50 overs after South Africa chose to field. Shafali Verma (87) and Deepti Sharma (58) played key innings to build the total.

In reply, Laura Wolvaardt fought hard with a brilliant 101 off 98 balls, but received little support. The Indian spinners sealed the game with Shafali (2/36) and Deepti (5/39) combining to dismiss South Africa for 246 runs.

The 52-run victory gave India their first ICC Women’s World Cup title. It was a proud moment for the country and a defining milestone for Andhra’s own Shree Charani, whose performances were central to the historic win.
