WPL 2026 Mega Auction Set for November 27

The WPL 2026 Mega Auction will take place in New Delhi on November 27, marking a major step toward the new season. All five franchises will compete to fill 73 squad slots, including 23 overseas positions, using a combined purse of ₹41.1 crore.

The league revealed the update on X with a countdown post, saying, “Days to Go The countdown to #TATAWPL Mega Auction has begun. Catch the #TATAWPLAuction 2026 on November 27 on http://WPLT20.COM”.

UP Warriorz Hold the Largest Purse and Four RTMs

UP Warriorz enter the auction with the highest remaining balance. They retained only uncapped batter Shweta Sehrawat and will rely on four Right-to-Match cards. Their squad needs significant rebuilding after earlier releases.

Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals Max Out Player Retentions

Defending champions Mumbai Indians and three-time finalists Delhi Capitals have both retained the maximum quota of five players. Neither team will have RTM options at this auction.

DC held on to Shafali Varma and Jemimah Rodrigues, who played crucial roles in India’s recent World Cup victory. Both batters produced match-winning knocks during the semifinal and final.

Smriti Mandhana Still the Highest-Priced Player in WPL

Smriti Mandhana remains the most expensive signing in league history after RCB bought her for ₹3.4 crore before the first season. She led the team to their maiden title in 2024 and stays with the franchise. RCB also kept Richa Ghosh, Ellyse Perry and Shreyanka Patil.

Across all teams, 17 players were retained, including seven overseas stars.

Global Stars Expected to Attract Big Bids

Several top international stars are also set to draw strong interest at the WPL 2026 Mega Auction. The lineup features Deepti Sharma, the 2025 World Cup Player of the Tournament, along with South Africa’s prolific skipper Laura Wolvaardt, who amassed 571 runs and struck two centuries in the knockout stages. Australian greats Alyssa Healy and Meg Lanning add further star power, while New Zealand’s multi-skill standout Amelia Kerr and South Africa’s dynamic all-rounder Nadine de Klerk are likely to attract competitive bids as well. The WPL will announce the full auction pool shortly.
