Swansea City are set to part ways with Alan Sheehan after a disappointing start to their Championship season. The Swans have won only four of their first 15 matches — their weakest run since being relegated from the Premier League in 2018.

A 4-1 loss to Ipswich Town at the Swansea.com Stadium added more pressure on the 39-year-old coach. The result left Swansea 18th in the table. Supporters voiced frustration, chanting “we want Sheehan out” after the match.

From Assistant to Head Coach

Sheehan joined Swansea as assistant to Michael Duff in 2023. He later stepped in as interim boss after Duff’s exit. Under him, the team earned 11 points from seven games before Luke Williams became head coach in January 2024.

After Williams’ dismissal, Sheehan again took charge and guided Swansea to 24 points in 13 matches. His leadership helped the club finish 11th, far from the relegation zone. Impressed by that performance, Swansea handed him a three-year contract.

Backed by Owners but Failing to Deliver

Swansea’s new owners, Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen, backed Sheehan heavily in the summer transfer window. The club signed key players including Adam Idah, Marko Stamenic, Zeidane Inoussa, and Ethan Galbraith.

Despite the spending, results have been poor. Swansea’s expected goals (xG) of 12.48 is the lowest in the Championship. They have also created only 15 big chances, the fewest in the division. Their attack has lacked creativity and finishing power.

Fans Lose Patience Amid Poor Form

The defeat to Ipswich extended Swansea’s poor streak to one win in eight games. Frustrated fans booed at half-time and full-time, demanding a change in leadership.

The club enters the international break under mounting pressure to act. A new appointment could help reset the squad and revive their playoff ambitions.

Swansea will next face Bristol City at Ashton Gate on November 22 (12:30 GMT) — possibly under a new head coach.
