India’s T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav applauded Jasprit Bumrah’s remarkable experience in Australian conditions, stressing that his presence adds immense value to the team before the India vs Australia T20I series.
“I think the way he has played his cricket for the last so many years, he has kept himself right on the top, and he knows how to prepare for a good series,” Suryakumar said.
The captain pointed out that Bumrah’s long familiarity with the conditions in Australia makes him a reliable guide for the younger players.
“He knows how to come and play cricket here. He has been here; he has visited this country the most of all the guys. So all of them have spoken to him. He is very open and very helpful in that,” he added.
Bumrah’s Exceptional Track Record in Australia
Bumrah’s stats in Australia underline his dominance and consistency as India’s pace spearhead. In six T20Is, he has claimed eight wickets, while in four ODIs, he has taken six. His best performances, though, have come in red-ball cricket — taking 64 wickets in 12 Tests, including four five-wicket hauls.
Across all formats, Jasprit Bumrah has featured in 22 matches in Australia, where he has picked up 78 wickets. Against the hosts in T20Is, he has appeared in 14 encounters, securing 17 wickets, proving his reliability on Australian pitches.
Suryakumar Confident of Bumrah’s Impact
Yadav expressed that Bumrah’s return to Australian soil will strengthen India’s bowling attack and boost the team’s confidence. The fast bowler will only play in the five-match T20I series as part of his workload management plan.
“Yeah, definitely when he takes the ground, starts from tomorrow, it will be a good thing; it’s good to have him in the squad when we play in Australia,” Suryakumar said.
During his previous Test tour of Australia, Bumrah finished as the leading wicket-taker, bagging 32 wickets at an average of 13.06 — a performance that remains one of his career highlights.
