Bayern Munich edged Augsburg 3-2 on Saturday to secure back-to-back Bundesliga wins in their title defence. Harry Kane, making his 100th appearance, set up Serge Gnabry’s opener with a superb chipped cross in the 28th minute.
Luis Diaz, who earlier missed a sitter, doubled Bayern’s lead in first-half stoppage time, finishing Konrad Laimer’s cutback. Bayern looked set for another big win after Michael Olise calmly netted the third in the 48th minute.
Augsburg Fight Back Late
Kristijan Jakic volleyed Augsburg back into the game on 53 minutes. With 14 minutes remaining, Mert Komur struck the far corner to spark hopes of a comeback. Despite ten minutes of stoppage time, Bayern resisted the pressure to claim victory.
Captain Manuel Neuer admitted frustration at conceding late goals again. “They (goals conceded) are extremely annoying, but on the other hand, we missed a lot of chances,” Neuer told Sky. “We did that in Wiesbaden, and now again. We’ll definitely put those away in the long run.”
Leverkusen Suffer Late Collapse
Elsewhere, Bayer Leverkusen squandered a two-goal lead to draw 3-3 with 10-man Werder Bremen. Patrik Schick’s Panenka penalty put Leverkusen 3-1 up before Bremen rallied. Mark Flekken’s error gifted Isaac Schmidt a goal, while Karim Coulibaly equalised in stoppage time.
Coulibaly, 18, became Bremen’s youngest Bundesliga scorer. “There were too many simple mistakes from us… we did dumb things and gave the game away,” Tillman told DAZN.
Leverkusen remain unbeaten away since May 2023, but pressure grows on new coach Erik ten Hag.
Doan Inspires Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Leipzig Win
Eintracht Frankfurt’s Ritsu Doan scored twice and assisted in a 3-1 win at Hoffenheim. Stuttgart beat Borussia Moenchengladbach 1-0 with Chema Andres’ header. RB Leipzig responded to their Bayern defeat by beating Heidenheim 2-0, thanks to Christoph Baumgartner and Romulo Cardoso.
