Lando Norris Leads Dutch GP 2025 FP3 for McLaren

Lando Norris continued his perfect run at the Dutch Grand Prix 2025, topping the third and final practice session at Zandvoort. The McLaren driver outpaced team-mate Oscar Piastri to complete a clean sweep of all three practice sessions. Norris now heads into qualifying aiming to repeat his pole-to-flag win from 2024 and close the gap in the championship fight.

Wet Start Creates Early Challenges

The final one-hour session began on a damp track after a morning thunderstorm. Race control declared the track wet at the 11:30 local start, forcing drivers to adapt quickly. Gabriel Bortoleto briefly led with a 1m12.014s before Fernando Alonso switched to soft tyres, clocking a 1m11.082s for Aston Martin. Yuki Tsunoda endured a snap of oversteer at Turn 3, while Lewis Hamilton struggled for front-end grip in his Ferrari.

Norris and Piastri Battle for Supremacy

Norris fired in a 1m10.262s midway through the session, 0.071s quicker than team-mate Piastri. The Australian then responded with a 1m10.120s, putting him 0.142s clear. George Russell slotted into third as the fastest medium-tyre runner, just ahead of Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. Max Verstappen’s Red Bull continued to understeer, leaving him eighth behind Oliver Bearman.

McLaren Flexes Muscle in Qualifying Sims

In the final 15 minutes, McLaren revealed its true pace. Norris produced a sensational 1m08.972s, comfortably under his 2024 pole lap. Piastri managed second, but he was 0.242s behind. Verstappen fell nearly a second off Norris, ending hopes of a fourth straight home win. Russell finished third overall, 0.886s down, followed by Carlos Sainz, Verstappen, and Leclerc.

Alex Albon, Lance Stroll, and Racing Bulls rookie Isack Hadjar completed the top ten. Alonso narrowly missed out after a near-miss with Russell at pit entry, an incident now under investigation. Hamilton struggled for grip again, placing only 14th.
