Jacques Villeneuve Joins 2025 Goodwood Revival in AC Cobra

1997 Formula 1 world champion Jacques Villeneuve is set to make his first appearance at the 2025 Goodwood Revival. He will take the wheel of a 1963 AC Cobra, famously nicknamed the Hairy Canary, during the Royal Automobile Club TT Celebration from September 12 to 14.

“I am very excited to be participating in the RAC TT Celebration,” Villeneuve said. “It was very frustrating seeing all my pals having fun racing it out last year while I was sitting watching. Driving the Cobra on such a fun track will be an exceptional moment, can’t wait!”

The Duke of Richmond commented: “Every year, we are privileged to welcome some of the world’s greatest drivers and riders to the Goodwood Revival. Drawing on experience from across the breadth of motorsport, these competitors turn their skill and passion to historic racing. They often face rivals they’d never otherwise meet on the track. I’m grateful to them for taking the time to join us and look forward to seeing them in action.”

F1 Champion to Join Star-Studded Driver Line-Up

Villeneuve’s participation follows his role at the Goodwood Festival of Speed earlier this year. There, he joined other motorsport legends to celebrate 75 years of Formula 1 and drove Niki Lauda’s Ferrari 312 B3.

He will be part of an impressive line-up at the Revival. Other big names include 2009 F1 champion Jenson Button, three-time Daytona 24 Hours winner Scott Dixon, and nine-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen. Also confirmed are 24-time World Superbike winner Carlos Checa, four-time IndyCar champion Dario Franchitti, three-time BTCC champion Gordon Shedden, and seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson.

2025 Event to Honour Jim Clark’s Racing Legacy

The 2025 Goodwood Revival will also pay tribute to two-time Formula 1 champion and 1965 Indy 500 winner Jim Clark. Vehicles from his career will be displayed and driven on the historic circuit.

“It’s such a privilege to celebrate Jim Clark at the Goodwood Revival this year,” the Duke of Richmond explained. “His achievements in 1965 are the stuff of legend, including uniquely winning the Formula 1 World Championship and Indy 500 in the same season.

“I vividly remember watching him win the final F1 race at Goodwood on Easter Monday 1965. In that race, he and Jackie Stewart set the ultimate Goodwood lap record. With such deep connections to Goodwood, and in a year of significant anniversaries, we are proud to honour Jim Clark. Many believe he was the greatest driver of all time.”
