Manchester United remain determined to sign Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba, even though the Seagulls value him at over £115m. The Cameroon international is seen as one of United’s key summer targets. The Sun reports: “Manchester United continue to talk with Brighton star Carlos Baleba as they refuse to give up on a sensational deal.”
Baleba, 21, is open to joining Old Trafford, but Brighton are holding firm. They are said to only consider bids around the same £115m fee they received for Moises Caicedo in 2023. Manager Ruben Amorim is eager to reinforce the midfield after investing heavily in attacking options.
Newcastle Emerges as Preferred Destination for Jackson
Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson is keen on joining Newcastle United if he leaves Stamford Bridge this summer. According to The Telegraph, “Nicolas Jackson favours a move to Newcastle United should he leave Chelsea during this transfer window.”
His move could depend on whether Newcastle sell Alexander Isak, who has drawn interest from Liverpool. Although a £110m bid was rejected, Liverpool are reportedly still considering their options. Newcastle are holding out for £150m for the Swedish forward.
Jackson has informed Chelsea of his desire to leave and was absent from the squad in their recent friendly against Bayer Leverkusen. He has also been training separately from the main group.
Chelsea Explore Nkunku for Simons Swap with RB Leipzig
Chelsea are holding discussions with RB Leipzig about a potential swap involving Christopher Nkunku and Xavi Simons. As The Guardian notes: “Chelsea are in talks with RB Leipzig over a potential swap deal for Xavi Simons that could lead to Christopher Nkunku returning to the German club.”
Nkunku left Leipzig for Chelsea in 2023 for £52m but has fallen down the pecking order following the arrivals of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro. Chelsea are prepared to include cash alongside Nkunku, valued at £40m, to secure Simons. The Dutch forward has already agreed personal terms despite interest from Bayern Munich.
Negotiations are ongoing, with Chelsea pushing to finalise the deal before the transfer deadline.
