Esteban Ocon Highlights Need for Haas to Improve Consistency

Esteban Ocon has emphasized the need for Haas to “get the consistency together” after a tough outing at the Hungarian Grand Prix. The 2025 Formula 1 season has been a rollercoaster for the team, with moments of success mixed with frustrating performances.

Starting from 17th on the grid, Ocon faced significant challenges throughout the race. He summed up his experience, saying, “A difficult day, for sure. I think we need to have a good look [at] what if we’d used another strategy, if it would have given us anything. I don’t think so, in hindsight.”

While Ocon managed a solid start, he struggled to maintain positions as fresher tyres helped his rivals overtake. “Just coming out of the car now, we struggled a little bit, especially towards the end to keep the cars behind that were a bit quicker on fresher tyres,” he said after finishing 16th.

Haas’ Inconsistent Form and the Path to Improvement

Despite standout performances such as a fifth-place finish in the Belgian Grand Prix Sprint, Haas’ form has been inconsistent. Ocon acknowledged the team’s challenges, stating, “Looking at this first half, I think there are some positives, definitely. We’ve scored a decent amount of points, but we are not consistent enough and where we want to be every single time.”

He pointed to the team’s success in Spa as a high point, adding, “We are not there every single weekend, and this is where we need to get the consistency together. We are working on that. I have full trust behind the team and it’s far from over this season.”

Meanwhile, Ollie Bearman, who started 11th, encountered difficulties with car handling and rear floor damage, which ultimately led to his race ending prematurely. “I was really struggling with my feeling with the car, just massive oversteer for the whole stint,” Bearman explained.

Bearman expressed frustration with his performance, saying, “It’s disappointing. I was just surviving, essentially, which is not a good feeling in a race.”

Heading into the summer break, Haas sits in ninth place in the Teams’ Championship, holding 35 points, 15 points clear of Alpine and 10 points behind Racing Bulls in eighth.

Consistency will be the key focus for Haas as they look to improve for the second half of the season.
